Our true nature, or identity, is written within the book, but we have not been able to truly read or understand it, because it was foreclosed at Adam's transgression. In Revelation 5 the prophet John saw this foreclosure and cried out because no one was found worthy to open the book. Finally, one of the elders stepped forth and said the Lion of the Tribe of Judah was deserving to open the book. It was then that John saw the slain Lamb. This slain Lamb, Jesus Christ, is the key to opening the book.
In chapter 6 we find John has been invited to "come and see." This invitation tells us that God wants John to understand. We learn that the seals have nothing to do with the destruction of the earth, but instead have to do with unlocking of the Book of Life. As the seals are opened, we find the book reveals the coming of the Lord and the manifestation of what Jesus has done, and continues to do, in the life of the believer.
It is the same for us, a full relationship with God our Father starts with his invitation to "come and see." Each unveiling comes with the same invitation. We can do nothing of ourselves, true understanding comes only when he unlocks the seals that have been upon our minds.
