This months teaching is entitled “The Mystery Of The Candlesticks.” While on the Isle of Patmos, John came to be in spirit in the day of the Lord. He heard behind him a voice of a trumpet. A voice, speaks of an enlightenment or disclosure. Upon turning John saw seven golden candlesticks and as so often happens in the scripture one must look at the symbolism. We find that number seven depicts completeness, covenant and rest and gold symbolizes the divine nature. Verse 20 tells us that the seven golden candlesticks represent the seven churches of Asia. Thus, we see a picture of a corporate church clothed with a divine, complete nature. This golden nature comes from Jesus, the High Priest, who is standing in the midst of the candlesticks.
Corporately the church is the light of the world. Moreover, the soul is the Lord’s lamp. (Pro. 20:27). Most importantly we discover in this prophetic picture that Jesus is the One that gives us rest as a complete and covenanted people.
