The Book of Revelation is a book of hope, promise and success. A book that contains a "well word," which will bring prosperity to our lives. It speaks of a transcendent happiness of life beyond care, labor or death. How do we get to that happiness? First we are told, "Happy is he who reads with understanding." This word “reads” comes from the Greek word “anaginosko,” which means "to know again." We are to know again the word that God recorded deep within our hearts. This word was placed in us before time began, when God chose us out of himself in Christ. (Eph 1:3). Then: we must hear the words of this prophecy. That is, we need to give close attention to, comprehending and understanding the word of God. When this comes alive within us, we can say, “I know that!” Finally, we must keep the word that is in the prophecy. This word "keep," is the active form of "to guard from loss and watch over in order to protect." We are not to add to, or change this word of judgment, but to protect and see that it accomplishes what it has been given to accomplish. We are going the hear the purpose of God's judgment in this book. His judgment is more than retribution or "payback" on those who did not accept his gift. This book not only will hidden things be revealed to us but it will comfort the afflicted and bring an increase of joy.
