Title Charissa's Journey

Deliverance Is Near

From time to time, recently, I’ve heard something that disturbs me. No, not ‘disturbs,’ but more accurately, ‘nauseates’ me. The gist of what I’ve been hearing can be summed up in one statement: "So and so will be elected President, because the Lord is bringing judgment on America."

I don’t think I’d be bothered if such statements were accompanied by additional statements, such as, "I’ve been asking the Lord to spare us, and to show me what needs to change in my life," or, "He’s going to burn up the chaff and stubble so the righteous can prosper," or, "He’s getting ready to take from the wicked and give to the righteous," or, "These are the times that cause people to turn to the Lord," or, "It’s going to be so exciting to see God’s hand move." In a nutshell, I wouldn’t find anything objectionable in such a negative statement if it was being made in faith.

Now, it’s possible that you might say, "But if God has said He’s bringing judgment on America, what could be wrong about saying so? Isn’t that faith?" Hmm, maybe. But the promises of God are "yes" and "amen." He knows the plan that He has for us, and it’s a plan for good. He isn’t interested in anyone perishing. He is longsuffering and merciful and kind. So if He says He’s going to destroy, He isn’t looking for the faithful to sit in their houses and shake; He’s looking for someone who will get in His face and talk Him out of it!

We show our immaturity and our distance from our Father when we take such a statement and think, He’s made up His mind; nothing anyone else can do about it. That is the attitude of children and strangers. A friend reasons and argues. A friend says, "What will everyone say about You if You destroy Your people?"

We’re supposed to pray for those in authority, so that we can live in peace. Every type of peace and prosperity should be our destination, and we don’t attain them by talking about how the neighborhood or the country is going to hell in a handbasket.

How ‘bout we change our tune? How ‘bout we start saying things like, "My world needs someone to show them the way. Here I am, Lord, send me"? Be it your family, your job, your neighborhood, or your country that is in question, God has the desperately-needed answers. He hides those answers, not because He doesn’t want them known, but because He wants someone to seek Him for those answers. Why not you? Why should it have been only Noah, and Joseph, Moses, and Daniel? Why not you? This is not a rhetorical question, folks. Why not you?

Like Joseph in Egypt, if you can hear His voice well enough to hear Him say He’s bringing judgment, then you can hear it well enough to get His plan for deliverance.

He wants to give it to you.
