Title Charissa's Journey

His Daughter's Inheritance

In life, there are rules. They are the standards–what we think of as normal. Some rules, of course, are more set than others. While certain temperatures in certain seasons are normal in a certain geographic location, that may vary drastically from one year to the next. On the other hand, the sun has never yet risen in the west and set in the east, and the lengthening and shortening of the days throughout the year is predictable down to the fraction of a second.

This is true in things other than nature, as well. For instance, men don’t bear children. While men are, in general, physically stronger than women, there are some women who are physically stronger than some men. But only women bear children, and only women are capable of naturally feeding their infants. One of these principles is a general rule that is broken fairly regularly, while the other is a law that God built firmly into His creation.

Sometimes we get mixed up and tied up by confusing the unbreakable laws (guys, just try having a baby, and see how far you get with it!) with the general rules. We’ll sometimes try to do the things that cannot be done, but more often we limit ourselves because of a general rule that we aren’t willing to break. We don’t want to rock any boats.don’t get too caught up in that! The only prophet who lived between the time

There are many such gender–related rules found in the Bible. For instance, it was usually men who were national leaders. But of Moses and Samuel was a woman–and she led Israel for quite a number of years. It was generally men who were merchants and traders–but don’t get stuck on that, either. Whether the woman mentioned in Proverbs 31 was a theory or a real person, nonetheless she is described as a business-woman. Jesus and his disciples, as they traveled about, were provided for out of the personal coffers of a group of women–in spite of the apparent rule that women didn’t have personal coffers.

For some reason–which I don’t know–I have been just a smidgen tied up by some of the gender-related rules that have hindered women and hampered progress for generations. The Lord has been opening my eyes over the years, but the final straw was a simple statement that is found at the very end of the book of Job.

In the beginning of the book, it appears that only Job’s sons had houses–although when they threw a party, they invited their sisters, as well. After all of those children were killed, the Lord gave him ten more children–seven sons and three daughters. The sons’ names are not mentioned (which is highly unusual) but the daughters’ are (equally unusual).

Job gave his daughters an inheritance along with his sons.

And when our Father wants to give an inheritance to His daughters, that is nobody’s business but His!
